Our Fabrics Philosophy - Why "Natural" is a Health Choice

Heavy synthetic fabrics (like 100% polyester or high-synthetic blends common in gym wear) can act like a barrier—trapping sweat, heat, and moisture against your skin. This disrupts natural cooling, creates a warm, humid environment that encourages bacterial overgrowth (leading to persistent odor, irritation, chafing, or even skin flare-ups like rashes or breakouts), and may unbalance your skin's microbiome—the delicate community of beneficial bacteria that protect and maintain skin health.
The Biology of Movement: Why Natural Fibers Matter
At Grip & Grace Co., we believe what you wear should work with your biology, not against it. During a workout, your skin is your most active organ—it breathes, it cools, and it releases toxins through sweat.
Most activewear is made of "plastic-based" synthetics that trap heat and moisture. We chose a different path. By prioritizing natural, bio-based fibers, we ensure your body can perform its essential biological functions while you move.
1. The Studio Tee: A Breathable Second Skin
75-78% Lyocell, 16-17% Wool, Spandex
Our tees are engineered to support your body’s thermoregulation.
-
Biological Release: Lyocell (from wood pulp) and Wool are "breathable" at a cellular level. Unlike polyester, which traps sweat against the skin, these fibers allow moisture to move from your skin to the air, preventing the "suffocation" of your pores.
-
Bacterial Balance: Sweat itself doesn't smell; it’s the bacteria that grow in trapped moisture. The natural antimicrobial properties of Wool prevent bacterial buildup, keeping your skin’s microbiome healthy and odor-free.
-
Skin Sensitivity: Lyocell fibers are smooth and round, reducing the microscopic skin irritation that often happens with rougher synthetic fabrics during repetitive movements.
Our Intention: To provide a garment that acts as a bridge between your body and the environment, allowing for a natural exchange of heat and moisture.
2. The Signature Grip Sock: Healthy Foundation
70% Premium Cotton, 25% Polyester 5% Spandex
Your feet have more sweat glands per square inch than almost anywhere else on your body.
-
Moisture Absorption: We use 80% Natural Cotton because it is a "thirsty" fiber. In a Pilates or yoga setting, trapped sweat between the toes can lead to fungal issues and skin breakdown. Cotton absorbs that moisture immediately, keeping the skin dry and healthy.
-
Nervous System Connection: By using high-quality natural fibers and a snug spandex fit, we ensure your feet maintain a clear "sensory connection" to the floor or the reformer. You feel the ground, not a layer of sliding plastic.
Our Intention: To keep your foundation dry, hygienic, and grounded, respecting the complex biology of your feet.
